Had a phone call tonight, my friend has just got back from germany with his new car. It has every known extra. The Command is now a harddrive (no disc) that's covers all Europe. The Distronic plus will start the car from standstill. It has the infrared camara that shows the way ahead even in fog(command screen) The reversing camara will turn with the steering helping you to get into a gap, it also has the headlamps that turn with the steering, the seats side surports blow up as you corner. I will go for a test drive next week if it does not rain.

He said that the new musium is well worth a vist but the three hours allocated is no good, he could have spent days there. They even have a W***el MB there.

They make 400 S class cars every day,and 95% are all special orders.

infrared

Just a quick note.
The S class night vision display (infra red camera) actually replaces the display of the speedometer.
You lose the normal clock view for the infra red image and the speedo is replaced by a speed bar at the bottom of the display.
It does not involve the COMAND screen.
I LOVE the S class.:-D

I'll get one in a couple of years, when the poor sods have lost shedloads on depreciation, don't like the shape though but that's for another thread.

All cars lose shed loads, but in comparison to competition, I think the S320 will more than hold its own.
£30000 depreciation in 2-3years is horrifying to us, but to most S-class buyers, its err, well not. Could be worse, you could buy a CL 55

As part of my job, I am quite often in "the City" (as my London colleagues refer to the central area) - I've seen quite a number of the new S-Class machines waiting for their high flying passengers to decend from the gods - they are definitely growing on me.

drive one. Honestly. They are amazing. Its not just how smoothe they are, see how I added the e there for extra smoothness, you just feel like King Dong when you drive around. They reallt are the conkers.

Fantastic car.
Distronic plus is a bit daunting.
Our course instructor gave us all a change to drive one and put faith within it's capabilites.

One thing that got drummed into us was that whenever you approach a roundabout , apply the brakes manually!
