NEW SERVER

Hi All,

As many of you know, the forum has been running particularly slow and even, which has resulted in some serious problems.

We therefore need to change the Forums server to provide us with greater capacity and therefore speed.
This migration will make on two days this week:

Midnight on Thursday 21st for maintenance.
+
Midnight on Sunday 24th for the migration.

This will result in the forum being off line for a period, which we hope to get up and running soon after.

Having run a car forum myself, if feel your pain when it all goes tits up with hosting and server issues.

I hope that the move to a new server goes smoothly and users show some understanding of the task involved.

At TEENTECH Hampshire last year, a team of SEN (Special Educational Needs) year 9 students rebuilt from scratch, a HP server in 39 seconds, fastest of the day. Those are the kids who are written off as they are not ticking the boxes in the right order at the right time. This IT sh1te is all smoke and mirrors, bit like electrickery

HR Director of SSE didn't know what SEN means, which kind of gives an indictment of modernity.

Not everything is instant. The forum will be right as rain next week, be patient

I'm just grateful that there is someone who spends their precious time making this forum happen, I wouldn't have the foggiest idea on what is involved in running and organising something like this, but many many thanks for everything you do in making it possible for people like me to enjoy and whats more, this forum has saved me many hundreds of pounds in MB repairs with what has been contributed over the years. I really can't thank you enough and it sounds like a lot of hard work goes into something like this. Long live this forum.
