New spheres but prob. Not solved. 97.e300td. Est.

hi everyone, just got car back from my local garage, new spheres fitted, suspension still very bumpy and self levelling still does not work, loaded rear of car, it dropped 3 inches but would not rise up with engine running, also the 6mm pipes which deliver the fluid to the control valve was cold, prior to this when working the pipes got hot. does anyone know what they could have missed? my garage are keen but like many general garages they know a little about a lot of cars but no depth on any particular car. i am wondering now if i really needed the new spheres ? maybe the control valve was the problem or the system just needed bleeding ? herbiemercman.

hi malcolm, the vin is wdb210, the area of concern is the rear suspension self leveling valve, how do you bleed system after fitting new spheres and how do you set up the valve? if the car is lifted up on the kind of lifts which lift the body but leave the wheels dangling then presumably the slv valve will be closed so you cannot bleed the system. ian.

Bleeding.

To bleed the system, crack open the connection that is on the outward side of the pump (on pump in engine bay).Only open it slightly to let any air in the pump out...engine running of course.Retighten after a few seconds when fluid is seen coming out.

Was told some years ago that oil pumps are just that.....used to pump oil!. Are no good at pumping air and need bleeding to get them going.
