Hi,
I,m replacing my steering wheel on my C230K in the next few days, though i think i know the routine for the airbag could someone confirm this as being correct as i don,t want to have to go and get the SRS fault light put out.
disconnect car battery, remove airbag from steering wheel, replace steering wheel, reconnect airbag, reconnect car battery.
Am i right in saying that the light would only come on if i turn the ignition on (car battery connected) with an airbag disconnected.
Sorry for my ignorance but i,d rather get it right.

Thats my understanding. The srs will only trip if it gets to perform a self test, which it doesn't do until the accessory setting is reached with the key.

I have a W203 220 CDI changed the steering wheel no problem without disconnecting the battery, bolts holding the airbag very tight!!!

John to be safe keep the air bag face down out of the sun, yes you can do it without taking off the battery, but no key in ignition

You are correct, we have done this with my friend couple of times for my friends father. He sells the cars fast but likes to have SLK-wheel... :)
