Hello and welcome

Might be an issue with the master cylinder?

I will check that out, still puzzled why the front calipers are working fine

It works off a tandem cylinder where by the first section of the master cylinder operate the front brakes, more pressure on the pedal operated the rears brakes too. But I have been known to give wrong advice before

Hi Mark and welcome. Has your car got an electric park brake. I'm quite new to the marque my self but I think you may have to put the rear brakes into service mode before doing any work on them if I'm not mistaken. Even if your car doesn't have this it could still be an issue with the hand brake mechanism.

Hi the park brake is manual but works on the inside of the discs on brake shoes, I dont have a problem with the park brake is just seems to be on the pads

I wonder if it's anything to do with when you wound or compressed the pistons back forcing the fluid back to the master cylinder. There might be a check valve somewhere in the system. You could try bleeding the system and see what happens.
