Hello folks..... as the title says i am new here and although have been reading it for a while this is my first post.
I got a 2001 c180 classic 2.0l about 2 weeks ago, am very impressed with it, real comfy ride and nice to have that star on the bonnet ! ;) but i have a few questions that i hope some might be able to help with....

first... the manual states climate control.... is this the same as a/c ? reason i ask is the last week over here has been real hot but when i set it up at the cool setting from the centre blowers all that comes out is warm air, not in the slightest cold or even cool ? easier to have it off totally and just let the window vent it....

second... there is a 6 cd changer in the glove but i cant get it to play, i tried loading all 6 and 1 in the head unit but all that will play is the one in the head unit, it wont toggle between both, could this be a programming fault or am i missing something obvious that i have to do ?

third.... anyone else have issues at the pumps ? not the mpg, i find that surprisingly good....avg has been about 40 for the last 500 miles, although a lot of that is dual carriageway at 60-65mph, havent screwed it yet.... but with filling it, keeps cutting the pump out with overfill, last car i had you could turn the nozzle to find a sweet spot so to say but not here, and kind of annoying when you want to fill it.....

Thanks in advance folks,

oleras.

p.s. Great forum !!

Sounds like the A/C isn't working. Have it repressurised.

Hi & Welcome,
As for the A/C, your car could have A/C, Climate or neither depending upon what was originally specified. If you have A/C you will have an 'EC' button which when lit shows that the A/C is off. If you have climate the heater controls are an LCD panel.
To test if the A/C is working have an able assistant sit in the car with the engine running. Open the bonnet and locate the compressor (RHS Front of engine bay) have the assistant switch the A/C on and off by pressing the EC button. You should be able to see the compressor start and stop. If the compressor will not start you are out of gas. Find an AC specialist and have them do a leak test and regas. Condensors can be a problem, compressors rarely fail.
With practice you should be able to fill the fuel tank no problem. If it persists you may have a breather problem.
If you want to see the original specification of your car you can check the attached Russian site http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/index.html?lng=eng

If your dials have temps on then you will have A/C. What buttons do you have with the dials?

I cannot see any A/C type switches on the picture so it looks a bit like no A/C :-(. If you have not already done so pls have a look through the manual and read the operation guides. Although the handbook relates to all the C class cars you should have some piccies and instructions for your particular model.

That is your ABS unit. The A/C giveaway under the bonnet is 1/2" diamerter braided hoses ending in solid aluminium fittings. Have a look on the front RHS

Hi Nialler, EC button lit (and won't switch off) is an indication that. A. The A/C is off & B. The system is out of gas. As per previous (it's all I'm typing at the moment) find an AC specialist have them do a leak test and regas and you should be nice and cool just in time for the weather to change  :D

The braided line is the fuel line. Looks like you have no A/C (oh well at least you will have no problems with it :p). have you put your vin into the Russian site from above?
