Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum. Been driving mercs for over twenty years. Last Merc was the 1997/8 model 230 CLK Kompressor Sport. Unfortunately timing chain broken and is non-runner.

I'm in two minds whether to scrap or worth restoring ?

I value your opinion!

Hi Nasser. Maybe look at a second hand engine?

Mainly Mercedes
Depends entirely on how much rust is on the rest of the car. If the bodywork is good I’d fix it. If it’s rusty probably not worth it

Hello ALL!!!
Sorry for being away for so long but life sometimes drags you away from the things you love.
My CLK sport is till standing there waiting for its fate; scrap or repair it?
It's going to cost £1000 for a second-hand engine, bodywork and interior.
Can anyone tell me-Is it a classic car as there are only a few about and it is over 23 years old?
If so then it's worth it I guess?
What say you?

As per Uncle Benz above, what’s the bodywork like?

Its not a classic. Its just an old merc. Give it another 20 years.

If spending a grand is cheaper then replacing the car and you like the car then go for it.

Hello and welcome, as others has said, if rest of car is good condition and you happy to keep it then another engine would be ideal, but only you can decide?
