GLC350d 2018
Hello All,

I have owned a Mercedes for 4 years in total now, started with an E350 Estate Night Edition which was a superb car, now I have a GLC 350d which is not so superb. Hoping to draw on others experiences to find a solution to the issue.

GLC350d - 2018 - The charge of the starter battery is critical!

I have the same issue that quite a few others are experiencing, the battery has been replaced, been recharged back at the dealership yet the problem still exists. I was told I wasn’t using the vehicle enough, my driving style didn’t suit it and I should consider purchasing a trickle charger to cure the issue!!! All the relevant software updates have been applied to the car at the dealership.

Unhappy with this rhetoric I wrote to the CEO of customer services U.K. Gary Savage at the time, a representative contacted me from his office and I explained the issue.
I asked if MB make and sell vehicles that need an additional battery charging support? Answer was no, asked if they supply a drivers manual to explain why my driving style is unsuitable, answer no!

I was told that there has to be an issue with the electrical system, a parasitic drain somewhere that needs diagnosing and rectifying. The supplying dealer disagreed and didn’t want to know anymore about it! Speaking to my local dealership hasn’t filled me with confidence either as they want to replace the battery, again! it was replaced less than 2 years ago and the problem has never improved, but despite imparting this information the new battery avenue seems there determined route!
I have read that it can be in one of the CAN systems not shutting down entirely, the heated seats, a faulty headlight, the ICE head unit!

Has anyone successfully resolved this issue?
