If I replaced my C280 sport cluster with the same model cluster (that has white dials, rather than my current black) will the odometer read my current mileage or the mileage on the replacement cluster?

Thanks in advance,

MikeE

Info stored in a 202 cluster can be downloaded into STAR and transferred into the new one

Sorry, I haven't paid attention - what is STAR?

MikeE

Little bright lights in a clear sky at night and the diagnosis test equipment used by MB dealers and indies, in other words a sophisticated fault code reader that can re program the electronic components on MB cars. Mush cheaper with an indie.

It looks to me that you could just swap over the new white dials with the existing black ones, retaining your existing PCB board and current mileage reader and clock, the dials are fixed by 3 screws and unplug straight up, I think the only difference is cosmetic but not completely sure about that.

Yes that can be done but is care is not taken you can lose the calibration of the pointers, if I have to remove a pointer I mark the rear of the pointer where the pointer meets the spindle with a felt pen, and this make it easy and accurate to re fit

Please be absolutely sure that the new clocks are identical to your existing ones as there are at "least" 3 different types of cluster, the one that Dec shows in his pics is different as its an early prefacelift type, and is different to my later prefacelift car, which in turn is different to my AMG.

Yes 4 for the 202 and the first had a very short production run

There is a lighting module, and on the diagram bulbs are shown 4 of them,,you cold open it up and have a look

It gives no reason as to why you would need to open it, but there must be something in there
