Hi all,

Bought a 2005 w220 a couple of years ago and have just very sadly sold my supercharged Range Rover sport, but happily replaced it with a 2008 S320L.

Immaculate condition, 20inch AMG wheels, cream interior.

Plans- dechrome, rear spoilers, black front grille, tint front windows, keep it clean.

At least with the S class you will still have the bells and whistles you got used to with the Range Rover, hopefully with less expensive bills (gearbox failed on my L322 vogue).

Be careful of plod when tinting front Windows, unlike the rear they have a maximum tint limit and the S class is already tinted, you will find that is the reason the car is presented as is. If you are pulled over they carry a checker and will make you remove the film on the spot before being permitted to drive on...

It certainly won’t be spoiled! I used to own a detailing business and I have an amazing mechanic who’s a German Car specialist so it will be well looked after.

My w220 is still in showroom condition and is now 13 years old.

i have a derv RR and an s320 , my first mod would be a remap pal , yours already looks cracking , especially the cream leather so im not sure why you want to mess with the exterior , the one thing ive always admired about an S class is the ooze class as standard without shouting to loud

Removed the diesel badge (all the glue is now gone) and wrapped over the chrome strip. The ‘S320’ will also be going.

Looking good.

Needs de-badging and some decent pressed metal number plates :cool:

Is debadging as simple as using a hair dryer and pulling the badges off ?

I use steam. These ones were incredibly incredibly stubborn to get the glue off the body. Ended up using dry clay to remove the last pesky bits, otherwise I would have done the rest. The centre emblem will be staying.

I have found AG Car Glass Polish excellent at removing any residue

Could you not have removed the chrome strips by the lower parts of the doors?

It’s an eBay job. It’s really hard to find decent aftermarket parts. There’s a real lack of suppliers. I doubt there are any improvements other than aesthetic.

Probably, but if I wanted the chrome back it’ll only take me two seconds and two fingernails to take off the vinyl.
