1) If I claim on insurance should I trust Autoglass (or whichever national chain they will insist I use)?
2) If I tell them my current screen has 'green tint at top' will that ensure they bring correct one?
3) Are there any difficulties unique to changing a 500SE screeen I should tell operative about?
4) Any other top tips?

Thanks
Piers

It is to some degree your luck on who does the job,,most are OK and you can ask for green.

It might be an idea to look under the rear shelf to see if it is rusting as the rear screen rubbers can let water in, if there is any signs og dampness under the rear shelf toy could ask them how much to replace the rubber at the same time

I had Autoglass change the heated and tinted windscreen on my wife's Discovery.
The two men who came knew all about the problems and pitfalls and even brought replacement clips for the side trim panels, which they knew would break when removed.
I would leave them to it,I reckon they know what they are about.

Regards,
Nick.
