2010 E350 CDI BlueEfficiency Sport
Hi all,

I have just come from 20 years of worshipping BMW and their straight sixes. I am a total virgin to MB.

Having lost my beloved 3.0d 5series to the Xmas floods I thought I would give MB a try. I still love BMW - there was no reason to move away except to try something new so no nasty comments please!

3 Days ago I got myself a 2010 E350 CDI Sport. Thirstier than I expected but great fun to drive. I am not disappointed.

However, I keep reading about a 256 version etc. How can I tell which version I have - I am completely confused by the MB spec lists!

Thanks in advance,

Jasper

p.s. I did search but all posts containing "E350 + 265" have people already aware of what they have.

If you're running a 2010 E-klasse then you have either the W212 (saloon/ estate) or the C207 (coupe/ convertible). W= wagen, C = coupe. I presume yours has the 4 front headlamps, with the inside ones being slanted-rectangular (rhomboid)?

If you are running the E350 CDi Blueefficiency then your engine will come with 265PS (228bhp), perhaps you were getting confused with this?

A 2010 350CDi will be a 231 bhp model, the 265bhp was introduced in 2012 IIRC.

If you want a little more oomph then speak to Anthony at GAD Tuning ;-)

Cool. Thanks guys.

It will be the W212 then - Saloon with rectangular lights.

I saw a bit about the GadTuning stuff - as a recommender I am politely assuming you have experience of them or similar? - are you aware of any realistic MPG gains? (Power is nice enough for now).

Thanks again,

Jasper

Welcome to the forum.

I bought my E350CDi about three months ago so have some knowledge of specs/years. The OM642 V6 diesel has gone through quiet a long gestation period and has been around since 2005. The 212 E Class was equipped with a later version of this engine the forerunner being a 320CDi version in the 211 series.

The 212 started life with a 231ps rated engine in 2009 and was uprated during 2010 to a later version with power increased to 256ps.

There is a note on the log book, the 231ps is 170Kw and the 265ps is 195Kw

I hope you enjoy the car and I'm sure you will find the forum very helpful, I 've been a member for 11 years and have learnt a lot about owning and caring for a MB

Congratulations on the new car. I am sure you will find the power output adequate - especially if you look at the torque figure.

Most diesel drivers go along at modest revs and the torque output encourages this - the gearbox will tend to change up before 3,000 or so too, unless of course you drive in Sport mode "con brio", in which case the bhp/Kws become more important - but the fuel economy tends to suffer. :D

I may have let Anthony tinker under my bonnet , power is amazing particularly in gear, mpg is the same
