Newbie lady driver with a central locking problem

Hello all, good morning. I have a 2005 ML 270. The driver door won't lock with central locking but all other doors will. The driver door, when I set off, and all other doors automatically lock, makes a sound like a gun going off repeatedly. Bam bam bam bam. As if it is trying to lock itself. It is getting annoying locking it by hand. Could anyone help? Do you know the exact fuse I could buy from Halfords? I know if that doesn't work it is probably a case of taking the door panel off? NB Could you also let me know which generic box of spare fuses I can buy from the internet? Is it specific or can I buy any as a back up to have in the car? Many thanks. Laura

from that list in the 2nd link...
'Mercedes A Class W169 2004-2012, Mercedes B Class W245 2005-2011, Mercedes R W251 2004-2012'....do any of those 3 relate to my ML 270. are they the same thing? many many thanks in advance. Laura

When my W211 tailgate lock failed; i sourced a remanufactured one (with warranty!) from these guys; carratt-autoteile (via ebay)

Pay deposit
Receive replacement in the post
send back old one for refund

Where are you located in the UK, if your not one for taking a door card off to repair/replace the lock then we can recommend some local Mercedes independent specialist that you can use.

west Dorset. I will give it a go though. I like a challenge and fix most things on my cars.

Laura, I had a similar problem on my C180 - (same electric type locks). I cut about an inch off the end of a small Ziptie and shoved it down the side of the lock pin, that's the bit that sticks up out of the top of the door. push it down until you cannot see it.
This basically acts like a shock absorber and stops the lock bouncing back up. It worked for me.....

Ziptie: (It's what I call them).

This is another way, but I found the tape eventually comes loose.... But the same principle.
