Welcome, I have the E350CDI its a great engine.
It certainly is, would it be the same albeit slightly revised in a 2011 e350?
I know jeep moved to a lesser reliable 3.0 engine from 2011 onwards (a fiat engine I believe)

There is a 2011 car 5 miles from my house with 65k on the clock for £12k which I'm interested in.

Regards

Assuming both are diesel and it's not a petrol 350 then yes both are the OM642 3 litre V6.
The same basic engine appears in 280, 300, 320 and 350 guises with different tuning levels, turbos and injectors as well as the obvious variations caused by Euro 4 and Euro 5.
In the R class there are two variants of the 350 CDI - earlier ones were 224hp and later ones 265hp with the changeover at 2010/11.

Thats the one I have E350CDI Sport 2011, 265BHP. Euro 5 with no AddBlue.
Mine has been very reliable only one minor problem in the 9 years I have owned it.
Check its had its second auto box oil change, due ever 5 years on the 7G+ box. It can be a bit clunky going into first when cold, mine & quite a few are like that but it doesn't get worse.

the only issue i have is that i only do short trips (5 miles each way @ 40-50mph) my jeep has been fine as it has no DPF, worried that it may clog the dpf/egr on the merc

With those short trips I would really be looking for a petrol version, I think your are correct with your concern about DPF/EGR issues.
An E500 would be perfect for you with your short journeys, there are some great buys out there.

E63's are not my area but there are loads with knowledge on here. Do a search on E63 there have been several recent discussions on the subject.

@AMGeed should be able to help you with that one, also he previously owned an E55 too :)

Both the 6.2 and 5.5 biturbo are quicker than an Impreza to both 60 and 100+mph but won't hold the road like one in the twisties.

Try and drive an example of both engines if you are interested in an E63. They have different characteristics and both have their fan boys.
I prefer the 5.5 biturbo for its low down torque and tuneability. With a remap you are looking at around 660-680bhp and around a 3.5 sec 0-60.
The 6.2 needs a lot of revs to come alive I found and I think more suited to the C63 but you may prefer it. Note the 6.2 was only fitted to the pre facelift W212.

Both cars, a full and complete service history is important. Any misfires, walk away. They are a great car with the ability to be a 5 seat family car or a flying machine.

Hello and welcome and good luck with your search. Definitely not diesel though for your use pattern.
