Hi folks I'm new to the forum.
I'm just looking for a bit of advice.
I have just bought a manual R reg C180 classic with 120k on it as a second car.
Having never owned a Mercedes before I don't really know my way around them and was just looking for any pointers on things I should be looking out for, known weaknesses ect.
Thanks.

I had a 202 for 9 years and honestly I can't think of much you need to worry about. The R reg 202 is basically bullet proof.
err - oh yes - Potential rust around the boot lock. Some did, some didn't. Mechanically,
just the normal stuff I guess. Make sure it's been properly maintained to schedule. If in doubt, get it properly gone over by a Merc specialist (lots around) and you should be good for another 100k.

Is it a n auto?

Make sure the box fluid is replaced if it has not already been done.

Thanks for that guys.
I know the cars previous owner and it has been pretty well looked after, last serviced in May 07 2000 miles ago.
It's a manual box.
The boot lock has a fair amount of surface rust around it and a small amount of rot ,it also has some minor stuff along the underside of the driver door which it is going in to get sorted next week.
I plan on keeping it for a while so just wanted to know what to expect and look out for!!!

Hi . The 202 is a fine machine . I would suggest that if you hear a vibrating rattling noise coming from the fan area that you have the front tension shock absorber tested and replaced. This was a common problem with the 202. If you are planning on carrying out your own oil changes, which is a good idea, you will need to obtain a special oil filter cap removal tool which is available and inexpensive. Is yours 4 speed or 5 speed semi auto?
