Afternoon all

I've just signed up to the forum having recently purchased my 1990 W126 300se. She's got full MB history and only on 68,000 so plenty of life in the old girl yet. I'll get a picture up soon for you but I'm thrilled to be the owner of a piece of quality machinery.

I do have one question about mudflaps - I know they aren't the most beautiful additions but I used to own a W123 and bought some proper MB ones which helped keep down spray etc. and I thought looked really good.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get them for a W126? I've seen only 1 car with them on and searching ebay/google etc only brings up really naff cheap looking things and I couldn't find any threads on here.

Any help appreciated!
Thanks

Gavin

Hi Bennyboy

Thanks! It's nautic blue with blue velour/cloth interior (to be honest I'm much happier with that over leather seats... leather tends to suffer from neglect more easily!). Interior is immaculate - was originally bought from Alan Day in London and lived it's life in Baker St area.

Has A/C, sunroof etc and most of the nice bits...and the electric steering column which for a 1990 car is incredible - it's only becoming a fairly standard thing to have a manual adjust on most cars today!

Tiny bit of rust on front near side wing but only surface at moment so will get it sorted.

It's fabulous to drive and people tend to respect you on the road more!

:D

I went to school with Alan Day, he had a nice set up on Finchley Road and a good man.

There are some mudflaps around, best to do a Google search for " mercedes 126 mudflaps"

Lovely cars.

Thanks Malcolm..

Yes - I remember the dealership. Is wonderful that you were at school with him!

Sadly google has only brought up things like this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2R-FOR-...D-MUDFLAPS-MUD-FLAPS-FRONT-REAR-/121246695700

...and similar. These are no way mudflaps for a 126 and will look wrong.

They need to be the more flexible type that were found on W123/W124 models.

I'll keep hunting - I'm sure someone will have them.

Thanks bennyboy....It's been a few years since I had my W123 and I'm just blown away by how well built the Mercs were of this era. That 'clunk' when you shut the door..like a tank!

Congrats on the car, sounds lovely. Rare to find one with mileage that low.

Genuine 126 mudflaps are actually really hard to find. It will just take time and regular scouring on ebay unfortunately. Beware the difference between generation one and two versions as well - at least I think they will be different.

Hey Ian

Thanks for the help - getting that impression re. sourcing but in no rush so I'll just keep scanning.

She's getting a new set of tyres tomorrow and after that I'll be doing one of my OCD cleans! lol....
