Newbie - Sorry to open with a question 170 97 230SLK

Hi,
Just a quick introductory note - and a question (sorry!). I've returned to the Mercedes Benz fold for what I suppose is my hobby car. I've just bought a lovely SLK230, 1997 MY which I plan to make even more lovely over the winter. I also run a 2.5 v6 diesel Audi A6 quattro and a VW lupo (and a Suzuki GSX1100ET).
The previous owner has obviously loved the car, I can't really fault it at all - other than he fitted a very flash Pioneer CD unit which really does sound great, but looks so out of place. Plus the buttons are so small I can't figure out how it works despite having read the manual twice...and I'm only 45!!

So I want to retrofit a becker unit which will restore the interior's aesthetic balance (I haven't got it yet, but I imagine it will be an audio 10 or somesuch off of fleabay). I've removed the Pioneer in preparation, but unfortunately the wiring has been cut to suit the pioneer connectors. Now I can work a multimeter and follow a chart (I've got the becker connector chart from this site which is brilliant) but I can't find any references to the cable colours.

Does anyone have a wiring chart which describes the audio wiring colours for a 97 SLK, please?

Also a 'd'oh' question....I presume that the aerial is in the heated window element on these cars? I can find no reference to it in the manual pack.

Hello and welcome to the forum, not easy on the colours of the wires.

It would be easier to ask someone with the same car to have a look and copy them

R170 audio wiring colours

You might also try looking at the Chrysler Crossfire service manual. This gives wiring diagrams, and identifies the colours. The Crossfire shares lots of parts and systems with the R 170, and so far I've found the technical info in it to be 100% accurate wrt my R 170.

Google Crossfire service manual, follow the link to crossfire forum, then you can download the whole service manual document - it's several hundred pages.
