I suspect the sensor has gone faulty and hit default,

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

If you were to have only one problem with a car, that sounds a good one to choose, in that it does not affect the running of the car.

I suspect you are correct, and I am sure a knowledgeable person will be along soon to help.

is it ok first thing in the morning? does the temp only read high after/during the engine is running? if so check the sensor has not been left dangling behind the bumper.

To read 45C I think that the sensor is damaged or unplugged

fair point malcolm, if it always reads this temp that will be my suggestion. we do see loads though that have just been left hanging inside after a condenser or intercooler change.

Most seem to read 38 when open circuit or unplugged,, true about it getting dislodged during a repair, or knocking down keep left signs

on first starting it reads 45 C but it can go up to 58ish, i'll check and see if it is unplugged or hanging in the engine bay. cheers
