Hi there everyone, well I'm a newbie to this site and quite a newbie to my Mercedes w202 C280 Sport and I'm loving it I only bought it as a cheap run around but have been bitten by the MB bug.
I have been looking at everyone cars to get an idea on what to do and update and what to spend my hard earned cash on.

Then I find out some a*$e has reversed into my drivers door with what looks like a tow bar and driven off....grrr.
So my first job I have just bought a W202 door of ebay same colour luckily and thought great this will be a 30min job how wrong could I be...

Well first I striped down the door I bought to get it ready to place on, then I striped down my damaged door this is when I realised it was not going to be a 30min job.For a start all the no side air bag mounting points on the new door also no central locking regulator mounting point (I think it is) and the wiring for the windows is different.

So last night I started this and been working on it for a good few hours well most of it is done now however my window goes down with no problem but really struggles going back up to the point I have to either pull it up while constantly pressing the button. So doors hung and adjusted and now its started to rain so I will have to try and sort out the window once the weather eases up. :-( so much for a 30min job...

Hope to get to know you all and I'm sure I will be asking for advice in the very near future.

Hello and welcome,,, those cars are so nice and easy to understand how you can fall in love with the thing when it was never bought for that reason.

Could the rubber tracks be different in the window rail, making it a little too tight, the bottom of the rail is adjustable but will not help the top. I would try putting the glass almost up and try pushing and pulling the glass longways to see if it will free off a bit, worse of coarse in the rain

The new door came with window and motor already in so that should be fine (I'm thinking), however I did swap the motors around as they had different connections so it has my motor on the mech that was already in the door I'm a little stumped at the mo  think I will have to wait until the weather gets a bit better.

And oh yes I have seen so many nice cars on here and other sites just need to get started on mine ummmm what to do first lol

Yes that is a point,it would mean disconnecting the motor to see if it will push up easily

Thanks for the idea I will give that a try tomorrow weather dependant, I hope its not some bent rails inside that looks like a bummer to change.

God I'm such an idiot,
well the weather today was dry and sunny so I started tracking down the window problem once I striped the door down took out the window motor then tried the switch with the motor out so I could see the movement well down fine as before up jerks and totally stops then I repress the button same again, then for some reason I pressed the button but not fully in and hey presto the motor worked.
Long story short I was pressing the switch to the one touch position and because I had disconnected the motor it had lost its one touch setting memory so was just stopping, well all put back together and one touch re-set all works fine.
What a noob....
