Hi :)

I am going to see a c230K Merc next week, N-Reg. it has a full service history, 90% Mercedes, 10% mercedes specialist (according to the owner!) It has done 100K but I am told this is nothing for these cars... specially if they have a full service history. He has just spent £800 on the supercharger, didnt say for what tho... I am figuring that is not a bad thing as if it needed work, then I dont have to do it! :)

Is there anything specific with these cars that I have to look out for? I have read owners reviews on them and even pro reviews and they cant really fault them... But I thought I would ask the experts ;-)

thankyou

Sara

I have an N reg C220 and it's still lovely to drive and totally reliable (aside from the fuel pump that sprung a leak recently) so the age is certainly nothing.

My only confusion here is that I was fairly sure that in 1995 there wasn't a 230k produced??
When I was looking in 1998 I was after a C220 or a C280. If the 230k had been around, I would have considered one (and I didn't) so are you sure about the age?

well, its an N-Reg (1996) I have only seen pics of it, but it says C230 and Kompressor on the back... I have no idea what I am talking about, but he says that it is a C230K Sport... :)

oh no!!! Does that mean it might be dodgy?? It may be that it is the very first of them... I looked on Parkers and it did say that they were invented then, but I guess you guys would know more than that... Its really nice lookin and I fancy it, but dont want a dodgy dog!!! :)

If you can get the Vin No. you can use the decoder site to give you the full details of the car.

no, I'm pretty sure it'll be ok. I'm sure some other guys will comment soon. Has it got a V6 engine and a supercharger under the bonnet? If not (but is still a V6) the worst it would be is a re-badged C240 but I'm pretty sure they did do a C230K at that age because, like I said, I saw one the other day

Here is something I just found on the web
In 1994 and 1995, Mercedes introduced a few novelties in the engine range. The first was a supercharged petrol version, the C 230 Kompressor, using a Roots-type supercharger to generate 193 PS (142 kW/190 hp) at 5300 rpm.

This thread is worth a read, although looking at your initial posting perhaps this has been covered by the £800.
I would as previous get a copy of the VIN No. as it will give you full details of the car.

It is a sport spec one... he says that it has all the extras in it... Reading the reviews, it says that pretty much nothing goes wrong as long as they have a full service history... so I hope it will be ok :)
