Just bought my pride and joy a month ago, Jasper blue CLK200K Elegance! Got a couple of questions hopefully you guys can help with.
1. The calipers look awful thru the 5 spoke wheels that are fitted. Is it safe to paint them and if so what paint should I use, ordinary auto aerosol and clear laquer? Was gonna do them black unless anyone has another suggestion.
2. Bought it from a Mercedes Dealer, ie it's a Used Approved with 1 yr warranty. The alloys have patches of peeling laquer, can I claim under the warranty for this to be fixed or as it was already there when i bought it is it not covered?
3. The bonnet as a couple of severe stone chips and many very light chips on the front leading edge. Any ideas how to mask these without respraying? Using Autoglym Super Resin polish, intend putting on Super Gloss Protection, anything I can do before applying this? Thought about ColorMagic polish that applies some colour in the hope it will fill the tiny white marks. Anyone got any experience with this or better idea?
4. Finally, Black Soft Top has white crease maks in it when it's been down then put back up. Whats best thing to do, brush it with a stiff brush or is there a better way to maintain it's appearance.

Thanks all in anticipation of a reply or two ! Great cars though aren't they !!!:D

Yes, I've got one and they are great cars but you should have got an Avantgard!! :D;)

Dunno the answers to your questions but I'm sure some clever person will be along in due course! :)

BTW, welcome to the Forum.

Yea, considered both trim specs, but having traded in an A class Avantgarde felt that the Elegance exuded luxury. It's just a matter of personal taste I think, both are beautiful cars at the end of the day! Thanks for reply.

Hello

Welcome and post some pictures when you finally stop driving and get out :)

Autoglym roof care does a great little kit for fabric roofs, used it on a few convertibles and brings the hood up like new. Includes a cleaner and re sealer to water proof the roof.

Job done :)

Calipers you can paint (I have used Hamerite before now) just mask off all the bits you don't want to paint.

May have been best to point out the alloys and stone chips pre handing over your hard earned and get the garage to sort. Doubt covered under warranty but someone else would know.

I would be tempted if your not happy to have the alloy (s) refurbished from around £40 each and the front touched up (you can either have a full bonnet spray or touched up by a professional) factor this into the overall price of car and you will be happy bunny otherwise it will bug you.

ooh and do a search for 'claying' this seems to be the latest 'cleaning' must have to et a showroom shine and paint that looks like water :)
