Hi does anybody have any idea why my alarm does not sound? the lights flash as theyre supposed to but no sound is it a separate horn or a proper siren? the car is a 98 E class DT300. Any advice is much appreciated Thanks!!
Am assuming you mean the alarm siren doesn’t give out short “chirps” when you lock or unlock the car. I think this is now common on car alarms as it is considered a noise nuisance where cars are being locked late at night in residential areas. Others may know more.
Not familiar with your car but others may put you right. Did a small round hollow key with a notch on it come with the car, if so it is for switching on/off the alarm, when you find the siren there may be a small key switch on it for the key, if not the key switch could be located under the steering wheel above your knees or possibly in the glove box.
