No audio from parking sensors

Hi all - new member here, having collected my first Mercedes, a CLK200, yesterday afternoon!

After leaving the drive of the previous owner with all working perfectly, by the time I got home I realised that, whilst the parking sensors were displaying their bars in the normal way, there was no audio signal from the system whatsoever.

I'd heard the warning signals when the car was being demonstrated for me, so I know that there wasn't a fault at that time, and it's nothing to do with the on/off control (which is set to "on"). I can say with absolute certainty that I've not done or touched anything that can be to blame... well, at least knowingly!

Does anyone know why this might have happened, and/or how to get the system audio working again?

Many thanks,

Tony

Well, only in a spiritual sense :D (and, of course, it's a Floyd track).

Anyway, thanks for that - I'll keep checking back because it really is something of a puzzle!

Hi, and thanks :)

Yes, I do have a switch, but it's to disable the entire system (audio and visual display). It's definitely set to on

I do not think that the audible part starts to work until the indicator is nearing the red center marks. just turn the car on and have someone walk in front or behind

I've tried edging right up to things (not people though :)) until the red bars are coming on and still nothing... bit of a mystery, this!

If it really was not working, the usual giveaway is when the first sound is breaking glass! But it's not so funny when it happens.

Nick Lowe loved it. ;)

When I am waiting to leave a parking place and the roof is down, someone then walks behind the car and it bleeps like mad, they can shout at me, when I have not even moved a mm.

How are you enjoying the car learningtofly

I absolutely love it. To be honest, the engine is slightly smaller than I'm used to, but it seems incredibly efficient. An there's just something about the car... :)

I suspect this Mercedes, whilst being my first, won't be the last.

Yes, the audio only comes on when the red sectors are illuminated - well on my S-Class anyway.
