No cooling SL500

Hi all

I have a 2003 SL500. The aircon has recently ceased to provide cooled air and I have noticed that the "Aircon off" light is permently on; when I press the button the light goes out temporarily and then comes back on again. Prior to this there was a few days when the aircon was very noisy. Does it simply need regassing or is there something else I need to know about?

Hi paul, I have the same car and hope to come back to this a bit later in the day.

When you say noisy, where was the noise

It was a typical aircon sucking noise that you get when the pump cuts in but it was a lot louder than I remember it being before.

I think that you will wnd up taking it to have the codes read out, and indie with STAR can do it, But I will still look this evening to see if there are any known faults

I would say you have a refregerent leak, low gas gives the sucking sound and when it gets to low it stops it working.

You will need a regas, with leak dye and then trace where its leaking from and repair it.

Yes as Ellsy above, no known common faults and the first one for me out of the 50 cars that I know of
