Sprinter van 313
Hi all, Some lowlife nicked all the fuel out of my Sprinter 313 van. I have put fuel in, but cannot get it to start. It spins over OK, but will not fire up. I suspect an alarm problem.
Can anyone tell me If the alarm imobiliser just stops the starter motor, or is there a fuel cut off as well? Its an older model from before they went over to the universal diagnostic socket. When I had another electrical problem previously, the main dealer told me the M/Bens diagnostic socket had a fault, and they could not comunicate.
I bought a Haynes manual, but that tells you how to overhaul the engine, but useless otherwise. Then I bought a Brooklands Book's manual which is better, but still not a lot of help.
I cannot afford to get a main dealer to come out and look at it, and when I drove it to a main dealer I got a bill for more than the van was worth, and they still did not fix all the faults.
So can anyone help before I stick it on E-bay as Spares or Repair.

I'm by no means technical but could it simply be an air lock in the fuel line?

Yes maybe the diesel pump needs priming somehow.

Thanks guys, I undid the bleed screw on the fuel filter and turned the ignition on but no fuel came out. I tried again with the engine cranking, but still no fuel came out. That is why I am wondering if there is a fuel shut off in the alarm. I have had a lot of problems with the alarm in the past. A mobile mechanic in the area used to bypass and remove the alarms on sprinters, so others must have had problems. He got threattened with court action by M/Benz so no longer offers this service, and refuses point blank to work on them or advise.
Its hammering with rain at the moment, but when it stops, I will look at relays and fuses.
