Hi, I'm a newbie to this site having sold Rover 75 (BMW engine) - now have E270 2003 Auto with Pana roof (main reason for buying) - (not my first Merc).

When walking towards car and using the remote I hear a noise under the bonnet that sounds like a fuel pump running to get up to pressure - is this normal and am I guessing right it's fule pump - what else could it be?

Its the SBC Braking system pumping up. (the 211 is brake by wire - so the brakes have an electric pump which is what you can hear).
Perfectly normal, they all do it, - it's just getting ready for you. Listen carefully and you'll hear all sorts of things clicking on, when you unlock it. It can also happen when you open the door.
