Hello, I've had my car for just over a year, it's recently had a full service with no issues.
I've recently started to notice a sound coming from the front drivers side when I start the car and I'm unsure what it is.
The noise isn't constant and it can only be heard when first started for probably around 10 minutes maybe then the noise goes.

I have attached a video link of the noise, if anyone could help as to what it could be I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance

Hello and welcome,

Sounds a bit like something on the combination belt, idler and tensioner are usual suspects (and cheapest to replace)

Anyone know roughly the price range to repair Something like this?
I'm going to 2 Mercedes garages to get quotes and want to know when I'm being over quoted

Thanks

Respected independent specialists, I hope.

Or main dealer? If so, prepare to bend over!!!

They aren't main dealer, just garages who only do Mercedes, one of them use to work for Mercedes and now has his own garage, I know his rate is like £66per hour or roughly half Mercedes but just wondering about prices to actually fix the issue

It's virtually impossible to tell from that video what the noise is caused by so how could we come up with an approximate price? At best we'd be guessing the issue and how much your mechanic will charge.

As mentioned by @Blobcat it could be the serpentine belt idler or tensioner but there is no way we can tell without hands on.

Well unfortunately, I don't know it's impossible to tell hence why I've asked.

Sounds very much like the serpentine belt to me aswell. Of course, it might not be, but IF it is the belt or a pulley, then on most cars it’s a relatively small job.

One way to narrow down these kind of noises is to de-tension and flip off the belt and start the engine (briefly). If the noise has gone, it’s either the belt or a pulley / accessory. Then spinning the pulleys by hand and listening for noise.

Disclaimer: I’m not a mechanic, I just like to think I am a competent DIY’er. When I say competent, I mean the type where every small, easy, 30 minute job turns into a 4 hour ordeal).

Haha thank you for your comments I appreciate it.

I just want to go there with a bit of knowledge on what it could be so they don't think that because I'm young and a female that I don't know anything and can take advantage of over pricing me because I won't know any different that's all lol.
