noisy automatic d2 and d3 but d ok?

hi there,

i am looking for a mercedes estate, auto and test drove one last week. all was fine except when i put car in d3 it was a bit noisy like not in gear. when i put it in d2 it made a noise like a ton of saucepans falling down stairs. i didn't buy the car although the seller said it is just a minor problem. does anyone know what it could be as the car drives perfectly in d?

Hi daisy and welcome That could have been anything, I doubt that it was the gearbox
