Noisy Cam Belt Tensioner 2001 C class 2 litre

I have a Problem with a noisy Automatic Cam Belt tensioner. When it is unplugged the noise goes away. The engine management system has been changed and the noise cam back. MB say it is a 'characteristic'.

Anyone else had this problem and managed to get it sorted ?

what you are talking about is variable cam timing not a cam belt adjuster

this is a known fault the fix is a new adjuster this applies to the 111 engine if you have the later 271 engine a little noise at start up is ok but this should go quite imediatly if this is not the case the fix is the same but on both cams on the 271 engine as the 111 engine only adjusts the inlet cam
