noisy door closer

Hi, I have a 2015 c200 which I bought during lockdown, excellent all round 30K miles. Recently the passenger door makes a cracking noise when opening or closing the door coming from the door check strap (although now it is a round enclosed mechanism.

Anyone know how to get at the mechanism and what is wrong with it ?

Try some lubrication spray

You can’t, it is totally enclosed.It’s not like the old metal strap.

They’re sealed units. If it’s noisy it will need replacing.
