No visible wear on wiper blade rubbers, looked good, cleaning ok except for the above irritating noise. Went to motor factors, new wipers fitted according to recommended spec'.Really awesome
difference.Silent swipe now, mist, drops,or other rain etc.
Hope this helps someone.

but .... bear in mind that a juddering wiper might be the arm itself that needs replacing. I replaced the wiper blades on my last car a few times within a fairly short time in use due to juddering at speeds above 50/55 mph. A new driver's side arm wasn't that much and it sorted the juddering instantly! :):)

I reckon you just need new wiper blades, they have just gone hard with age

I have had 2 new E Class cars and both suffered horrific wiper judder which to my mind is unacceptable on these cars.

the current car was in and out of dealership, I had new wiper blades 2 or 3 times, then new wiper arms and finally a specialist wiper adjustment tool was sent to the dealership which helped a bit but they were still pretty awful.

The dealership general manager then explained they had done all they could, he went on to say they looked at one or two other E Classes they had and most displayed this judder to some degree.

At some stage I read a post from I believe ‘Television’ who said the attachment area for the wipers should be flush to the screen without the wiper attached, mine were not flush, I managed to adjust them so they sat pretty much flush and this improved the performance tremendously but still not perfect.

My wife’s Aygo though sweep majestically across the screen of her car.

Sometimes it's what you washed, waxed the car with getting on screen. I get this now and then, fixed by cleaning screen with old newspaper.

I found exactly this too, didn’t have any news paper but watered down scratch remover on some 0000 grade wire wool worked wonders, a clay bar is also pretty good.
That said a new windscreen was the best way to sort it, about a month after I’d done the above got hit with a stone and cracked the windscreen instantly

Should be pleasing,I got the new complete wipers without the wind deflector, lighter more sleek design, only a silent swish with them, were fitted in two minutes. Aygo has it right.

Glad you are sorted OP. Out of interest what brand did you get as it makes a big difference to quality of clean and longevity. I find MB ones very good.
