I have an E class 240 Estate - 2000 with the 2.6l engine. I have had the usual misfiring problems and again as usual all the MB dealer is happy to do at my expense is go around changing everything. The engine analyser is showing misfiring on 2, so have changed the coil, plugs and leads on 2. The plugs were black so this did show misfiring. Had a look at the other plugs and they were fine. These changes made no difference. I have now located a local company who can test and if required repair the ECU. I keep reading problems with the wiring loom, ECU to coils. Can anyone please advise at what date MB went over to non bio-degradable looms. Many thanks.

You need to move the coil and/or other component to another cylinder to see if the fault follows the transfered items.

You see it may be a faulty injector (or wiring to it) that is not opening, and the ECU is probably not allowing the plug ciccuit to fire in that case.

Try it, as the engine wiring loom problems were earlier generation cars.
