Just been to argos and i went to fold forward the rear seats in my E-Class so i could load the long item into the boot and yet again the back seats dont fold forward.
I hunted high and low for any release switch but to no avail and as the boot lining goes up the back of the rear seats i guessed it never will fold.
This was the most annoying thing about my old W210 and when i purchased my W211 i didnt even ask if the rear seats folded down as i assumed that by now Mercedes would be doing something as basic as selling a 35k car with a folding rear seat, alas looks like yest again i will be paying for delivery on a number of items down the next few years.

You are quite right. I specified folding rear seats as an option on my E Class in 2003 and they were just fine - but I think cost £330 extra and can probably only be fitted during manufacture.

My 1972 SAAB had these as standard. As they produce a number of estates, A & B Class and "Crossovers", all with folding rear seats, you would think it might just simplify matters to fit them throughout.

I suspect that the S Class is the only model they currently don't offer with this option?

Aye, folding seats are an option, just as cupholders.

Need a big load lugger, I guess my advice is an estate is the E class for you.

I dont need a big load lugger and i dont like estates anyway but like most normal people i sometimes need to fold down my back seats to carry an abnormal load but where every other manufacturer however lowly does folding rear seats as standard mercedes who charge over 35k for my car dont and thats another point you make 35k for a car with one cupholder in the front??.

Mercedes assume that the sort of chap who buys an E class saloon is the sort who wouldn’t dream of carrying his own luggage, but would send the butler back to collect it later.:D

I am impressed by the size of the boot on the E. Its better than the S class.

Boot is large in the E class, mines also has no folding rear seats, I feel that if i had it i would use it as i did in my jaguar(with the resultant damage to the leather seats)and i won't go into the most expensive piece of damage:Oops:
