Non-operating rear window

Hello, can any of you mechanical wizards out there please help!
1994 S280. Rear window opened fully and now will not close. All other windows operate normally. When I press either of the two switches it raises slightly, perhaps 10mm and then stops. It will go down again the same distance. As it probably hasn't been opened fully for perhaps five or more years I think it may have just jammed but am not sure.
I have tried to remove the trim to have a look but doesn't appear to be as easy as it is on many other cars and so far that has defeated me as I am worried about damaging it. Also tried gripping and lifting the small amount of window available and using the switch but that hasn't worked.
Can someone please provide simple instructions as to how to demount the trim or offer some other suggestion.
Thanks very much - in advance.
John

John when you have got the door panel removed check your teeth are not worn ?

Thanks - not sure but if the teeth were worn I assume the motor would continue running and it stops as soon as the window stops and as that is only moving about 10mm the motor only runs for a very short time.

If it was jamming against something in the runners then you should see the window stop and lower half an inch.

Also have you tried giving the window a "helping" hand by trying to pull it up whilst activating it to close?
