NORMAL Grating noise on a C200K (2002)??????

Dear All

I have a 2002 C200K Elegence auto, with Xenon headlights.

When the engine is cold and the weather is cold I hear a hold grating noise - this is audible from within the car with windows closed - it sounds like pulling a shower pipe through metal ring. The noise can be heard by putting key into ignition, turnin to the second setting.

On closer examination it appears to be the Xenons whirring into place. I then manually switched off the headlights, but the noise still persists.

According to MB Dealers, this noise is NORMAL

I would like to know if anyone else has the same problem with their car??? I just can't blieve that this noise is normal!!

Hi

Doesn't sound normal to me It could be a noisey throttle body in which case it should be changed. If the dealer says it is normal ask him to put another car the same at the side of it leave them to go cold ( poss overnight) then compare the two back to back
