Normal Temp for a merceds benz 1990 230e

Hi there

I have a Mercerdes benz 1990 model and would like the normal temp to be cause while we driving in the open road the temp will be 80 or even below but in traffic it will rise till the first stripe between 80 and 120 and once you pull away you here a fan that goes on,it sounds like the car is taking off.please let me know as this is a big concern for me

Hi! My 230CE -89 W124 will also rise to the first stripe before the aux (electrical) fan cuts in (you can hear it), and I believe this is normal. I read somewhere that the aux fan cuts in at 90 degrees. When the fan cuts in it doesn´t take long until temp is back at 80. So in my opinion this is fully normal, and I´ve also read the same opinion at other places in this forum...
