Been finding for months in the torquey 500Nm @ 1600-1800 rpm C250 CDI to just progressively squeeze the throttle not to trigger kickdown which takes time to decide and is then of a high revy nature of slower progress down to the peak torque that goes downhill at just 2000 rpm .

But it's not always a successful squeeze to avoid kickdown .

Would be nice not to have it and just floor the pedal , can it be disabled ?

Just use the paddles - or tiptronic. Smooth and slick - and 'feather' the throttle to match.

If you look on the floor beneath the accelerator pedal you should see the top of the kickdown switch - if its like older mercs like my R129 You could just unplug the switch? Whether that works for later models I don't know... I remember the top of the switch went awol on mine and so the kickdown didn't work until I replaced it.

It's built into the same pedal and cannot be disabled unfortunately.

The box will be more reluctant to kick down in E mode.

It’s part of the powertrain design. If you want it improved then get the car remapped, it will definitely help the pedal response.

Probably not as much as a Sprint Booster pedal box .

Sprint booster will just make it more readily kickdown, by changing the pedal curve (which can be changed in developer coding anyway)
