Please excuse this rather pathetic question from a newcomer. I intend to put personalised plates on my nearly new CLC 180. Can I do this without destroying the Plastic carriers, and how does the moulded bead come off. Thanks, Alan.

If they are the ones with the joins at each end, just insert a metal spike into the holes and lift to release the claw.

The picture shows one end that is open so the you can see what the catches look like

One never knows usually by tapping the plate this might give an indication

On the type in this picture, the upper half opens upwards once you have released the clip in my last post and the number plate lifts up and out

Thanks Tel. Mine is like the one you show. Thanks for tolerating my lack of knowledge or confidence really. No doubt I will try your patience again soon. Regards, Alan.

Is this the same for a C180 please?

Hello :D these type of number plate holders were fitted by many MB dealers,,and they have their name in the bottom, if there is a join in the two ends in the middle and 2 tiny slots then yes
