Hello, could anyone give me some advice please.

Since November my engine management light has been on and due to financial difficulties I did not go to a garage until a few weeks ago. The hooked my car up to the diagnostics machine and they said they could not find anything but then they had another look and found a problem with the O2sensor.
Basically when I start my car it just conks out unless you put your pedal to the floor to give it gas. When I drive it up the road it is really slow and I can have the foot down but it won't go about 20.
It judders quite a lot and goes a bit slower when you change into a higher gear for a few seconds.

Does anyone think this really is the O2 sensor that needs replacing or could it be something else?

Also, when I put my foot down on the accelerator it rattles @ higher speeds. Anyone got any ideas as to what this might be?

Thanks in advance :0)

Andrew

Hi,

Sorry, I forgot to put the make down earlier, it's a 2001 Y A140 classic.

It's just getting worse by the day. The Engine management lamp is on by the way.
