Good luck young man, you could do OK out of it all, do not forget you had to cancel a trip overseas and all the hotels were paid for

All first class and 5 star too ..lol

Most weekends it bumps over the local golf courses speed bumps I think but those are well mean so if you go over too fast you scrape the undertray on them...

It is what it is though and not a lot I can do about it but wait and see if anything is offered.... Fingers crossed chaps... In the interim off doing the great tyre hunt again ...sigh...

An update from the seller : interesting he is indicating Winter (cold weather) tyres below 6 degrees but given i have never flat spotted a tyre before leaving it on the driveway and the pirellis are fine at this temperature I see no reason why these ones should...anyway have asked for a discount on replacement tyres in the interim and also details of the process to return these to the manufacturer.

We shall see what next ...

"Hello Mr Kinghorn

We have never had this problem before with this brand i would check the pressure and also the wheels for any flat spots as a precausion but we would have to send the tyres to syron for examination you would then have to purchase new tyres and await a credit should the tyres be at fault we always suggest cold weather tyres in temperatures under 6 degrees sir this could be and issue with the tread freezing as they are not cold weather tyres but please let me know your views if you wish to proceed sir

Have a great christmas

Hi,

I bought these tyres in June this year and have done about 6k miles since then. Over the past few weeks I noticed a noise from the front tyres. After inspecting them it looks like they have both developed a degree of flat spotting as they sit on my drive overnight in the cold. Drive in the cold and the tyres 'slap' the ground as they rotate ..once the tyres have heated up the noise disappears..assume the heat pushes the flat spot out and the are circular again.

Really disappointed with them. During the summer and autumn weather they were fine but in my view once they went below 8 degrees or so this problem cropped up.

In my view they just aren't fit for purpose or have developed a fault since purchase. 1 tyre I can accept as maybe something I might have done , driven over author or something , but not 2 in such a short space of time. the Pirelli Pzeros I have fitted on the rear are perfect even though they have done about 10k more miles.

What can we do about this?

Clearly I need replacement tyres but given the costs involved either Syron should replace FOC or contribute to a new set.

Welcome any comments you care to make in respect of this."

The overwhelming majority of cars in this country do and have been run on ''summer'' tyres all year round perfectly satisfactorily from a wide range of manufacturers.
Syron cannot sustain an argument on these grounds unless they forcefully advised you at the time of purchase that their summer tyres would flat spot at temperatures below 6 Celsius......the suggestion is balderdash.

My experience as well Mic . Will wait to see what gets said. In the interim I asked for a discount for replacment tyres and can but hope I get some compensation for the others.

I do wonder though given these are German tyres whether their expectation is , when sold n German market , they would be swapped to Winter tyres before cold set in thus not being tested to this degree.. But if so then that should be made very clear at purchase time.

Agreed - 8 out of 10 joe public won't even know the term winter tyre.

I would say, however, the pay for replacements while the faulty ones are investigated approach is the same as my tyre dealer takes.

Happy Christmas

Yes one does have to remember that your contract is with the seller, and not the manufacturer. No such thing as cold weather tyres or anything else like it,

You could measure the tread if say ½ of the 8mm gone and work out a price on a replacement set.

If you had to go to court to settle this, it would be the seller that you take to court, not Syron

At the end of the day I selected these tyres so nobody t blame but myself if they are unsuitable for the vehicle/conditions here I guess. However flat spotting/tyre freezing when at rest is just not acceptable in UK at these kind of temps. Do I think it's the car and its chassis/alignment ? Absolutely not having just come off a service and when the other Pzeros were taken off the wear was perfect and there was no re-alignment required...

Tbh it could easily have been pothole damage that put tyre out of skew but whatever it is they won't be on there much longer...

Full refund for the tyres has just been received. No formal word on whether they found them to be defective or not but the tyre manufacturer authorised a full refund for them.

Very happy with that outcome and I would deal with the vendor again ... Tyretraders.co.uk or .com can't recall which..

I only wish my rears werent new ! Its tempting to buy and keep those for when the time comes but at my current mileage that should be ages away.
