Odometer replaced by dashes

W169 odometer displays mileage for 2 seconds then disappears and shows 4 dashes/lines? Has anyone else had this problem?

No it's been like it for 6 months. Mileage reads perfectly clear for a few seconds, say 71274 then disappears and 4 small lines appear ----

What parts has been changed? ---- means usually wrong mileage in some of the many parts which store the mileage. Usually happens after cluster change, sometimes when service records has been 'corrected' otherwise.

Communication error with the EIS is most likely. Possible somebody has been in there with mileage alternation tools at some point. Some diag should give you a clearer idea.

w169 mileage can be found DASH (KI or IC), EZS (EIS), ASS, AS+ and ESP.

I changed my dash on my previous mercedes due to failure and then had this problem.. Took it to mbs who got the satnav dash board display working again but could not get the mileage to display.

Just want mileage to display for the MOT. I don't want the tester to write NO ODOMETER on the certificate
