They commonly corrode near fixing points and leak.
Don't run the engine until the pipe has been replaced and you may get away without replacing the pump.
From what I remember the rear pipes are difficult to fit as they pass over the rear subframe.
The circuit runs at 3000psi and in theory a good specialist could fabricate the pipe or you could buy a new pipe and have it split (away from a mounting point) and a new connection added to make fitting easier.
Sorry I can't remember the price of the fix nor the il capacity of the system, but you need to factor in new oil at £20 per litre.

I feel your pain, Bembo 'cause altho' it's important (of course); cost isn't the main factor it's the hurt of a beloved "pet" having problems that's the most painful part... Somehow, these lovely cars acquire a real personality and I swear they talk to you... So hang in there and she will reward your attention with more affection than any of the more "modern" stuff can ever achieve, Best of luck !

Parts 80 & 90 I think? If so they are W220 parts.
By the way, I’ve got loads of Pentosin if you need it.

hmmm , looking at those parts you mention craig and looking at my cars piping , it doesn't look like there is a connector at that point from the strut BUT that could be because its so badly corroded its in recognisable

Absolute cleanliness. Fully clean the pipe unions before removal, use plenty of PlusGas, be gentle on removal and make sure to cap the supply side of the pipe off as soon as the knackered pipe is removed.

The system is self-bleeding so that shouldn’t be a problem, but be sure you have a spare litre or two of Pentosin ready to top it up with.
