The car would not rev passed 3300 rpm this morning even when kicked down on full throttle.

Started and idled OK, pulled like a train up to about 3000rpm then no more. Used to hit the red line real quick when kicked down. I could still hear the turbo working at low revs. No diesel leaks. Gbox is OK. Head gasket is OK. All pipes and wires look OK.

Thought it might be the mass air flow sensor, but it does not have one (according to MB after I gave them the VIN No).

Blocked filters, knackered valve of some sort?

Any advice please.

I experienced a similar problem or a restrictive rev range when my catalytic converter got smothered with a stray precat filter that has decided to break up and make its way down the pipe. If your car has no cat, then I would still maybe consider a problem with the exhaust system, possibly even a bad silencer restricting the flow and causing this?

Not really sure how you can test this, possibly stand behind the car while its reved a little to see if the exhaust seems restricted?

Hope this helps

Thanks for this, its something I had not considered. The car used to smoke quite a bit when booted (not a worry as it is a tractor) I noticed a lack of smoke today so could be worth considering.

Sounds like the exhaust is blocked or restricted in some way....

Thanks for this. Any ideas how to test it?
