Oil change without filter change

Please let me know how many litres of oil a c180 (w202) need without filter change?

Oil capacity of your engine including filter change is 5.8 litres, if your are not changing the filter put in 5 litres and top up as necessary but do not overfill.

Why would you want to change the oil but not the filter?
Oil is expensive, silly paper filter element thing cheap as chips!

Its more important to change the filter anyway. Modern oils especially synthetic will outlast the filter many times over.

As above, its cheap and absolutly no reason not to change it.

this is a debatable subject, i change my oil at ½ the recomended time,and change the filter,though iI do not have to,the oil cost £45 the filter £8 from MB (MB filters are not the same as the pattern version) What do you do,I have asked myself the same question many times.

If you are spending £45, what's another £8 to do the job 100% right?
But given SBF's comments, perhaps we should save by just changing the filers more often !!!

hi,
modern synthetic oils last a lot, lot longer nowadays if i was strapped for cash i would just replace filter and do a top up on the oil and i would feel confident that it would,nt be detrimental to the car.
