I only ever use the Draper for changing engine oil, and when I am finished, I remove the top, and empty the drained oil into a plastic container. Then I leave it draining over night suspended over the container. By morning, all that is left is the color of the oil, and it's 99.9% empty. The main reason I do this is to monitor the amount of oil that has come out of the engine, this is important when it comes to refilling it. For the small electric pump that I also have, I run some petrol through it to clean it. As its designed to pump fuel, the petrol does not harm the plastics etc. So is safe to use.

I found the pump very easy to use, the only problem I had, and it was always the same in the past was, removing the over tightened filter. Luckily I have one of these strap wrenches that I picked up to use on my bikes. I drain the oil into a small container and have since taken to the tip. I can also use the pump to remove the oil from my lawn mower ;)

Petrol through an electric pump, good luck!

But petrol is already pumped through an electric pump in cars.

I very much doubt the £12 electric pumps from discount outlets are built to the same standard as the pumps built for car fuel systems. In fact, pretty sure the one I bought from Lidl has specific instructions never to use it with flammable liquids.

( The term "intrinsically safe" is key to safety, without that, don't use it!)

I usually, after changing the engine oil, change the lawnmower oil, as that keeps very clean.

Any residue left in the pump is then pretty clean.

I've just bought another one of these https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-cftp12-12v-oil-and-diesel-pump/
The original one I've had for some considerable time has found a new home in one of my Son's toolkits.

I bought a similar one off fleabag for around £12 and it sucked 10 litres out of each of my boat engines in half an hour. You must make sure that the oil is hot though. The only downside that I found was that the plastic tubes went very floppy and soft from the heat of the oil and started to collapse with the vacuum. I will get some reinforced tube for next time.

Don't have that problem with the Machine Mart one.

Buying the cheapest isn't always the most Cost Effective!
I've had the MM one for at least 20 Years, bought at the same time IIRC as an MM BC410E Battery Charger, both are performing today as well as the day they were bought.
ETA Correct Model No

This was the one I went for, Autojack 9L. Seemed to work well, but never used one before. I know sealey was recommended, so if this breaks I will blame myself.
