Advice needed please on the problem of oil in the O2 sensor wiring.
After reading many postings re this problem it seems that the problem of oil entering the loom is by way of the camshaft position sensor and can only be prevented by renewing the position sensor, is this correct or am i missing something. Can anyone provide me with the part Nos of the items i will need to cure this problem. Many thanks. Forgot to mention that my engine type is the 111951 2litre.

You will need a new engine loom and the modified section too.

Ask your MB dealer for the bits. You don't need the part number

I believe that you just get the blocker, plug it in to the front of the engine and plug the wire into the other end, it depends on how much oil has got into the loom, with only a little, you may get away with it

Just to update this post.

Inchcape (MB Oxford) came up with the following Part Nos and prices for the oil in O2 sensor wiring problem:-
Plug on cam sensor A1119970177 £2.02
Cam sensor A1110510177 £31.77
Wiring harness A2711502733 £16.77 all incl vat
Plus any additional items on sale or return.

Presume first two items 111 engine only with the harness for both the 111 and 271 engines.

Hope this info will be of benefit for other members suffering from this problem.

Hi Nickcc101, I bought the same from MB Swansea. Fitted on Sunday and washed out the ECU and plugs. Engine light now out, but expect it to return as oil still in the loom! Will wash out regularly and keep fingers crossed. Would be interested to know how you get on. Cheers. Owen.

Thanks Owen. Just trying to order from MB oxfords website but unable to find the plug on cam sensor listed. Waiting for them to contact me. Will let you know if it works for me. Regards Nick

Seems i was given the wrong part No for the plug should be A1119970186 and not A1119970177.

Hi again, I wondered why my purchase cost a bit more! The plug part number is the same as I got, I also bought the three bolts (MN000912006066) to replace the originals, just in case (£3.38). I fitted the magnet (cam sensor) without sealant, the thinking being, if it's leaking oil from inside, better the oil leaks out onto the outside rather than putting pressure on the plug and forcing it back into the wire. I appreciate that with the "starter line" that should stop any oil, but hey can you trust it!
