My 'new' 14 plate ML has made an oily mark on my drive and covered its under trays with oil. So, it went back to a local Mercedes dealer for them to look.
They've just sent me the usual health check video of under my car with the usual sucking of teeth of low front brake pads (funny that the other dealer it went to for a replacement key also suggested it needed new front discs too ...) but the video also shows the cause of my leak. It's coming from the sump plug! No idea if they're an olde style copper washer or an O ring, but which ever, you'd think that the Mercedes dealer that last serviced the car would have spent 50p on a washer/O ring! o_O

Anyway .... the courtesy car is a very very very nice CLS400d. Can you get a towbar for a CLS to to a 1865kg caravan? :D:D:D:D

And no doubt the dealer will want to charge full wack for new oil. Usually the sump washer is on the bill

I agree, though the oil hasn't been in for that many miles ;)

So?
They made the mistake (presume the dealer did the last oil change, or passed the car as fit for purpose), so they need to do a thorough remedial job. A filter is scant recompense for temporarily being without your car.

they are there to make money... at best you'll get 1/2 litre of oil

take the plug out, put finger on the hole, swap washer do it up... if its cold then should lose about 1/3 of a small cup <100ml

That really wouldn't surprise me :D:D

As someone else was paying ie it was a warranty job .... 'Sump plug & washer replacement' would have been £87.54  and they apparently needed 2 litres of oil.
