oil level light mb vito

got a vito van 108 cdi 52 plate and the oil level light is staying on(its off on start up and comes on after about 10 secs ,changed the sensor in the sump and it is still on,also the glow plug is staying on any ideas cheers saul

obv -oil level is right otherwise i wouldnt be asking;)

where abouts is the oil pressure sensor ? vito 108 cdi 52 plate

Do the pins in the plug look ok, other than that i would test the continuity of the wires from the sensor to the control unit.

There is a diesel expert, Diselman on this forum who I am hoping will see your post. It might be an ECU problem. Maybe whilst waiting for one of the other members to come on board you could try disconnecting the battery. Leaving off for ten minutes and then reconnecting. It might just rejog the ECU

where is the control unit for the sender plug looks okay,it has no power to the wires or does it not work this way

had the battery off all ready to alternator was knackered so had to replace it -thanks

I belive the control unit is under the dash drivers side. You will need a wiring diagram to see which wires to test, I dont have one unfortunatly.

any ideas where the oil pressure switch is ?

dunno about the oil light..but on sprinters the glow plug light coming on and staying on is because someone has pulled the glow plug relay due to it failing and draining the battery.

I had a look into this today and it seems there isnt a oil pressure switch. The sensor on the sump measures oil level, temperature, and quality. But there is no mention of pressure anywhere and i cant see one anywhere.

so its not me going mad then -i cant see no oil pressure switch .i will have to get hold off some wiring diagrams then due to this light staying on all the time
