Hi Guys,

I have a Vito 02 and shortly after having it serviced the oil light came on then off a few times whilst driving. I pulled over and checked the oil level which was fine.
Since then the oil light comes on, but only after driving for about 5 minutes. The mechanic who i know, put the computer thingy on and it came up sensor. He said he cleaned the one that was in and reset it and the sensor codes went out. The light still comes on after driving a few mins though.

Does it sound like a new sensor and if so how much as i looking at?

Cheers guys.

Thanks for that quick reply. Is it a big job to change it?

On a different note, I had this issue on a Vauxhall Cavalier CDX 2.0 Ecotec X20XEV.

Light came on when the engine was hot, would go out with a good revving and then the light would come on even when being revved.

Not sure what the issue was, but was thought to be the Oil Pressure Relief Valve. Caused monumental damage to the engine and the new owner had to change the engine.

I'd get the oil pressure checked before driving it much further.

Stu, got me worried now! Though i have been driving it now with this happening for a few weeks, i would have noticed something more worrying with the engine if it was anything other than a faulty sensor wouldn't i?

After a Month, my Cavalier started making a knocking noise ocasionally which was apparantly the big end bearings or something.

It'd only do it ocasionally...

Sometimes, the oil pressure light would stay off all day and night, hell, I even drove it to Birmingham and back. Not a problem. However, going to the shop, when it was up to temp, it'd start playing up. I just kept driving it though, £100 car with leather and Air con, wasn't much loss to me when I sold it for £200 with a known fault!
