Hi everyone, need some help fast! I have a 2003 CLK 270 C209 5 cylinder and in the process of rebuilding the engine. My question is, the oil pump tensioner for the chain is just a spring and it fits great on the slide in a square peg but the other end seems to go nowhere to tension the chain there is no right angle hole it can fit into so am I missing a part or does it fit somewhere in the cover when I fit it? I am confused. I have attached a photo thanks to everyone willing to help.

It’s the same, the picture is just the other way up. You need to ease it back and pull the loose end down, the push it back into that little nook.

It’s the other way to my arrow, pull it down clockwise as you look at it there, but I can’t draw it neatly the other way. My arrow appears anti-clockwise, but I’m just showing you where to hook it

Would it be wise to drill a small hole in the block being careful not to go through?

Long shot here, you haven’t installed the main chain guide rail upside down and it’s supposed to fit in here?

I haven’t seen this type before, only the one I originally pictured

Great stuff! It’s always hard with just close up pictures to go with. Actually seeing the whole thing might have twigged it sooner. Pleased you’re sorted!
